Narrative counselling is a therapeutic approach that views problems as separate from the person — you are not the problem, the problem is the problem. Through collaborative conversation, we help you identify the stories you hold about yourself and your life, and work together to reauthor those narratives in ways that are more empowering, authentic, and aligned with your values and identity.

Although our service is aimed at humanistic improvement, sometimes people struggle with certain challenges which require in-depth therapy. Psychodynamic therapy is a therapeutic model which aims to assist individuals in instances where in-depth therapy is needed. This model is particularly aimed at alleviating maladaptive concerns including anxiety difficulties, adjustment difficulties, relationship, identity, and sexual orientation challenges. We offer therapeutic service in this regard, but an assessment must be done first to review the appropriateness of the intervention offered.

At Ascendify, our partners are well-trained in legal and medical-related requirements for mediation — for example, in cases of negligence or disputes. Our trained partners also provide mediation in parental disputes, helping families navigate difficult transitions with professionalism and care.

Nico Benting is the founder of the Ascendify Empowerment Partners brand. Nico holds a Master of Social Science in Clinical Social Work (MSoSc Clinical Social Work) from the University of Cape Town. He has extensive experience in the health sector, particularly in mental health and wellness. He is also an improvement specialist able to coordinate improvement initiatives on large and smaller-scale engagements.
